everywhere. that is what john sibley has seen in hattiesburg. he jones us on the telephone. i'm here with our meteorologist chad myers. tell us what you saw. >> reporter: i picked up the tornado out of marion county, mississippi. there was initial report that came out of their emergency management agency that a tornado had indeed touched down and struck several homes, injuring several people. from there, i was able to pick it up about 10 miles to the west of hattiesburg. the storm was larger on the western side of the interstate than the eastern side. we've been able to go through and look at our video. now, the folks in west hattiesburg, i didn't hear sirens over there, but as we moved toward the college campus. the sirens were loud and proud. also want to give a shout out to the local fire department. as the tornado was paralleling highway # 8 and moving into the city. they were out there blocking traffic to keep folks from driving into the tornado as well as police out on the interstate. they had the interstate blocked for a time. >> chad myers, just amazing video we're watching here. what

on the l.i.e. due to the heavy snowfall. alison kosik joins us now from ronkokoma, new york. >> it's monday morning, people are trying to get to work and part of the long island expressway, the reyes bound side is closed. the westbound side, the part that heads to new york city, that is open. the cars are going. but if you're lucky enough to get to the highway, that's a great thing. the side streets are a different story. they barely have been plowed. look at how deep this snow still is days after this blizzard hit. i talked with one person this morning. he said it took him one hour to go ten miles, just to give you an idea about how tough it is to travel on these side streets. look at that big truck over here. it just got stuck here. we have a suffolk police officer trying to help that trucker. why about these highways close? we can go back to that video you showed, john. over the weekend, you know, this storm really hit on friday during rush hour. a lot of people were trying to head home, beat the storm but they clearly didn't because the snow fell so fast so hard. that's why those -- tha

for former l.a. police officer and accused killer of three. christopher dorner. kron 4's grant lodes joins us now with details on where dorner is believed to be hiding and new surveillance video. grant? >> yes, there is a lot of new information there is probable cause that christopher dorner fled to mexico. that's according to a federal arrest warrant filed last week by u-s marshals working the case. the document also says the 33-year old former l-a-p-d officer may have had help alluding police. that associate is identieid only by the illitials jy, and the person has a familty member with property in the big bear area where dorner's truck was found abandoned and burnt. last thursday. all this comes as we are seeing new surveilance video that tmz posetd.showing dorner at a scuba diving shop two days before the first two victims were murdered. dorner reportedly got two small, yellow tanks filled with air and left with a larger, black tank. he's said to have paid in cash, and appears to be talking to the cashier.even laughing at times. new at eight: law enforcement that have been impacted in the

transforms us and makes us new. this would be historical. the last time a pope resigned happened 600 years ago. that would be pope gregory iv in 1415. the very first pope to resign was pope clement in the year 101, 1,100 years ago roughly that the first pope resigned. many questions about whether popes in modern times think resignation is acceptable or not. pope benedict said, in fact, made it very clear that being able to resign was acceptable and made this part of the statement released from the vatican, both strength of mind and body is necessary, and lots of questions, of course. we know the date he would be stepping down, which would be february 28th. many questions about why now? mep notice that the pope is much more frail in recent months, and the question would be unbelie unbelievably unusual. let's go to nic robertson joining us by phone. nic, lots of questions. nic live in london this morning. a bit of a stunner. was there any indication that this resignation was coming? >> absolutely none whatsoever, and the last few months, the pope started a twitter account, not what you expec

. kron 4's reggie kumar shows us the dramatic outcome. five minutes after police shot two tear gas canisters into the window of this e-z eight motel room in newark. the second bank robbery suspect opened the door. with his hands up in the air, but then put them down. police quickly yelled at him to put his hands back up in the air. they demanded that the suspect turn around and walk backwards toward them. after taking several steps the suspect was told to put his hands behind his head, get down on his knees and continue backwards. investigators say this suspect did not have a weapon on him, and a gun was not found in the room. although.they say the first bank robbery suspect who surrendered monday afternoon did have a knife on him. they say some of the money stolen from the bank was recovered from the first suspect. in newark reggie kumar kron 4 news. >> a controversial new gun shop in los gatos has some people up in arms. many residents say, the store doesn't belong there. the store's owner says. he has even received a death threat. kron4's scott rates attended an emotional town h
